The essential accessories worth keeping in your camera bag
Few things are more frustrating than seeing your battery warning flash while you’re working. Dead batteries disrupt your creative flow, lead to missed moments, and can even cost you jobs in professional settings. Seasoned photographers always have spare power on hand to avoid these situations, and you should, too.
1. Spare Batteries
The simplest and most effective solution? Carry extra batteries. For Fujifilm photographers, most X Series and GFX System cameras use either NP-W126S or NP-W235 batteries. Having at least one spare – ideally two – ensures you can keep working without needing to stop and recharge.
2. External Battery Chargers
While many modern cameras support USB-C charging, using an external charger is often faster and allows you to keep working with one battery while charging another. Chargers are available for both the NP-W126S and NP-W235 battery types (BC-W235 can charge two NP-W235 batteries at once).
They’re lightweight, travel-friendly, and easy to pair with a power bank or wall outlet.
3. Power Banks
A USB-C power bank adds serious flexibility, especially for travel or long days on location. Many Fujifilm cameras support direct in-camera charging via USB-C, which is handy for charging when moving between locations (the camera can’t be used when a power bank is connected).
Alternatively, power banks can be used with external chargers. Just make sure to check power specifications like output voltage and amperage to ensure compatibility and efficient charging.
These allow for extended sessions by housing additional batteries and offering improved ergonomics for vertical handling. This is a must-have for event, sports, or studio photographers who need maximum uptime and excellent balance for heavier lenses.
5. AC Adapters
For when you need a continuous supply of power and switching out batteries isn’t suitable, an AC adapter is a must. They’re particularly essential for studio application, like when producing long-form videos or livestreaming.
