If you’ve decided to vlog with X-M5, here are some tips on how to make the most out of its built-in audio capabilities.
Use Directional Microphone Settings
In terms of audio quality, X-M5 allows for versatile audio recording without a strict need for external microphones. It features three built-in microphones that offer four directional modes:
Surround: Records audio from all directions.
Front: Focuses on sounds from the front.
Back: Emphasizes sounds from the rear.
Front and Back: Records from both the front and rear simultaneously.
You can switch between these modes, depending on your recording environment. In Vlog mode, simply tap the audio icon on screen.
Turn on the Wind Filter
For enhanced audio quality, especially in challenging environments, the camera features an improved wind noise reduction setting that can reduce steady-state noises. This includes wind, as well as similar continuous sounds like noisy tech.
To access this feature, set your camera to Vlog mode using the mode dial, then press MENU/OK. Select the AUDIO SETTING menu, select NOISE REDUCTION SETTING, then turn on the WIND FILTER setting.
